Testimony

Jeff came to the Lord in St.- Louis, MO on April 4, 1982 through the powerful testimony of his brother Dan.  He began attending a home bible study in May of ’82 taught by Scott Nilhas and gained futher knowlege of God’s plan for his life (you must be born again). Jeff, and his brother Dan, were both baptized in Jesus’ name and filled with the Holy Ghost on June 30, 1982 under the ministry of Pastor E.D. Dumaresq.

Under the powerful and spiritually gifted ministry of Pastor Dumaresq Jeff began to grow and acknowledged his call to the ministry. August of 1983 at the age of 19 he decided to attend Gateway College of Evangelism in St. Louis, MO . God placed very special teachers such as: Professor J.P. Nelson, Dr. Arlo Moehlenpah, and Dr. Raymond Crownover in Jeff’s life that have served him well and furthered his ministry.

Jeff and Erin met at Gateway College in 1984 and were wed on March 8, 1986, in New York City by Pastor Vic Votaw. They served under his ministry until the Votaws were called to serve as missionaries in Taiwan.

Jeff and Erin returned to St. Louis, MO and worked with Pastor Dumaresq in sunday school and home bible study outreach. On Tuesday, January 17,1989 at 11:04 am they were blessed with the birth of thier first child Hannah Alicia. One year later Jeff, Erin, and happy Hannah, were then off to Kansas City, MO. While there Jeff was asked to be an associate minister under Pastor Stan O. Gleason. On Tuesday, September 29, 1992 at 11:25 pm, their second child, Gabrielle Mary was born and made this new family of four a happy and lively bunch.

Jeff, Erin, Hannah, and Gabrielle began a new ministry in 1995 and ministered to the impoverished, gang, and drug infested neighborhoods of Mid-City Kansas City, MO. In that year alone their were over 150 murders, mostly gang related.  What a waste of precious young lives!

It was April of 1997 and God placed a called upon Jeff’s heart to move to SoCal and Erin confirmed it with her imphatic statement, ”We need to go to San Diego!” The Word of Faith was spoken and they were off on a miraculous journey that lead to the San Diego community of Rancho Bernardo. It was while visiting Revival Tabernacle, Bishop James N. Larson’s congregation that the Keck family  knew they were home. They soon came on board as staff members and one of four associate pastors.

In November of 1998, the Kecks saw a new ministry born as Bishop Larson asked them to start a mission work in downtown San Diego. In  June of 1999, through the prayers of Hannah, Jeff was appointed to the post of administrator at Tabernacle Chrisitan Academy and in August Erin was asked to joined on as the first grade teacher. They continued their mission work in downtown S.D. for seven years. It was in August of 2009 that the family felt the call of God to plant a new church in the community of Carmel Mountain Ranch.  That call was realized in May of 2010 when Petra Pentecostal Church was founded.
